zoom box
a control in a window’s title bar (in Mac OS) that allows a user to toggle the size of a window between a user-defined size and the maximum size necessary to display the entire contents of the document (up to the maximum screen size). Compare this to the similar maximize control in Windows, which is different in that it always goes to the maximum size of the screen even if the document is not as large as the screen.
