threads
in group communication, a conversational thread is a line of discussion with a common theme where each contribution follows from the last. A group may have multiple simultaneous threads continuing at any given time, and threads may be woven into each other as topics overlap. Typically bulletin board systems support threads as separate topic areas and as chains of replies to a given comment. Subthreads are topics that branch off separately from a contribution to an existing thread.
