entry tunnel
a sequence of screens that a user must proceed through upon entering a website and before being given access to the full range of options on the website. An entry tunnel is usually used to force users to view advertising, read important announcements, establish their identity, provide information for customization, or read a sequential narrative (as when establishing a scenario before beginning a game). However, such a tunnel is usually best to avoid when it is not necessary to the user’s goals in coming to the website.
