Glossary » double click
double click
to click a button twice quickly in succession, typically on a mouse. This is used to indicate that the region currently under the mouse pointer should respond in some way distinct from how it responds to a single click, usually through performing the operation of a single click, but applied to a broader range or in a more general fashion. The most common use is in desktop interfaces where a double click on an icon means to open the associated document or application. Double-clicking in a text editor will select the associated word. Triple-clicking will often select the associated line or sentence.
