Summary
Ask.com is seeking a talented, motivated Visual Designer to join the User Experience Group. This team is responsible for designing innovative and leading interactive products including Smart Answers, Ask 3D, City, and the recent redesign of Bloglines.com. This role will be an integral contributor and is expected to provide high-quality user-centered, information and visual design work to drive and enhance the user experience for the millions of users at Ask.com.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Engineers and Product Managers to design and implement online products & services.
- Concept development and idea creation.
- Create visual design solutions that address business, brand, market, and user requirements.
- Production of aspirational mock-ups, functional wireframes, site architecture, screen layouts, color palettes, typography, user interface elements and final production.
- Manage own workflow, documentation, and deadlines on multiple and simultaneous projects.
- Be extremely attentive to detail, architectural on approach to design, and a driving force in UI quality standards with modular, reusable solutions.
Technical skills & experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Graphic Design or related field.
- 3+ years interactive design experience.
- Solid portfolio with a range of creative samples that demonstrate relevant work or projects.
- Process-oriented with ability to work with different UI materials and rapid prototyping.
- Proficiency with Adobe suite of design software.
- HTML, CSS, AJAX and/or DHTML expertise.
- Solid understanding of Web usability guidelines.
- Experience in branding, identity development, visual communication design, marketing and advertising.
- Expertise in Macromedia Flash, welcomed.
- Experience with user-centered design, a must.
- Any scripting experience for creating working prototypes a plus.
- Demonstrated copy-writing skills, a plus.
