Job overview
Shopbop.com is looking for a motivated Web development guru with the knowledge and skills to build highly interactive, cutting-edge, cross-browser-compatible Web interfaces. Working closely with the Creative, User Experience, and IT teams, this individual will develop prototypes for new features to enhance the site's capabilities. This process will also include developing, implementing and supporting various templates, and working with business owners to solidify requirements, all in service of creating a uniquely addictive shopping experience. We're looking for someone with superior user interface and graphic design skills, along with strong technical knowledge of current Web development technologies, including CSS, XHTML, Flash/ActionScript, JavaScript/AJAX.
Required skills:
- Experience with HTML/XHTML at the hand-coding level.
- Ability to code HTML/XHTML/XML templates using XSL.
- Understanding of all <xsl:??> elements and how they are used.
- Understanding of all JavaScript event hooks, as well as the ability to write code from scratch.
- Knowledge of existing JavaScript libraries and how they are used.
- Ability to use CSS for content styling and layout.
- Proficiency with Flash streaming media and an understanding of bandwidth and its impact.
- Experience with other media such as video and audio, as well as Web 2.0 concepts and wireless device UIs.
- Demonstrated understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues.
- Familiarity with DreamWeaver.
Qualifications:
- A strong portfolio of online materials that demonstrate expertise in applied techniques as well as graphic and UI design.
- At least 2 to 4 years of experience developing highly interactive Internet applications.
- At least 2+ years of experience using Flash and JavaScript.
- Ability to work well in teams, respecting and welcoming ideas from partners, business stakeholders, and technical experts.
- A highly creative approach to Web design and familiarity with trends in design and technology.
- Enthusiasm for the internet as a medium for interaction and communication.
- Passion for writing simple, clean, efficient code and solving complex problems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
