About this role

This individual will work closely with the web applications development team in envisioning and executing the user experience architecture for our online engagements. The ideal candidate is a creative as well as analytical thinker. This person should be able to contribute to the creation of imaginative interface designs that are intuitive, aesthetically pleasing and technically feasible. Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills are a must. Ideal candidates will have experience in conducting user research, designing taxonomies, creating site maps, wireframes and prototypes and assisting in usability testing. It is also very important that this individual has experience presenting their work and facilitating meetings where they clearly articulate the rationale and strategy underlying their work.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Participating in and leading client meetings where the User Experience Architecture is being presented, not only in working session settings, but also, as necessary, in business development sessions
  • Designing the User Experience for a wild variety of client types. This includes site taxonomy, user scenarios/personas, process flows, wireframes, site maps and low and high fidelity prototypes.
  • Collaborating with software developers, analysts, brand strategists, graphic designers and content editors to ensure the successful creation of back-end data management systems, presentation layer shells and their accompanying editorial and graphic content.
  • Collaborating with analysts in the creation of Project Requirements and Functional Specifications documents.
  • Planning and conducting usability evaluations and assisting analysts in developing and documenting usability requirement.
  • Conducting efficient research of related web properties to determine best practices.

Qualifications

  • Requires a college or university degree in Human-Computer Interaction, information design, industrial design, or related area.
  • 3-5 years of experience in user experience architecture and related disciplines for interactive products.
  • Requires demonstrated experience with a number of commonly used techniques such as conduction task analysis, interviews, observation, questionnaires, concurrent and retrospective protocols, prototyping (hi or lo-fi), participatory design, flowcharting, site mapping, analytical and empirical usability evaluations.
  • An understanding of how marketing and branding issues impact interface design is also desirable. Sample deliverables and presentation is required.

Recommended skills:

  • Direct work experience as a User Experience Architect, Human Interface Designer and/or Interaction Design is required.
  • Productive skills with Visio, Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint and Axure
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS and general web template techniques and content management systems
  • Comfortable with reading and developing UML use cases
  • Strong client interfacing skills
