Boulder, Colorado web-development company seeks a web usability superstar who thrives on user centered design and is passionate about creating an extraordinary user experience. You will work to ensure the usability, usefulness and desirability of our web sites and applications.
You will serve as a User Experience (UX) advocate both internally and externally in human-computer interaction / usability matters. Internally, you will identify and prioritize potential usability issues and recommend strategies for improvement to the design and technical teams. Externally, you will be responsible for representing and communicating our UX vision, philosophy, methodology and capabilities to current and potential clients.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Works closely with designers and programmers to develop user-centered design strategies and intuitive navigation
- Works closely with clients, developers, designers, and additional stakeholders to define and understand user and technical requirements
- Defines user roles and goals and develops personas and scenarios
- Works with clients and internal team to create information architectures based on user roles and goals
- Develops user interface design standards documentation and provides usability feedback
- Documents usability principles, best practices, and usability test results
- Provides the creative team with heuristic evaluations on proposed designs as well as wireframe development
- Conducts a variety of user experience studies appropriate to the business objective, e.g., usability tests, card sorting, surveys, cognitive walkthroughs, structured interviews, contextual inquiry, task analysis, field studies, and heuristic review
- Aggregates usability findings, structures into reports, and presents findings to cross-functional team members and clients
- Represents user needs during requirements definition, project planning and UI design
- Champions changes and enhancements that have a direct, positive impact on the user experience
- Works with project teams to balance usability with real-world time and cost constraints

- Unbelievably excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong knowledge of user-centered web design principles and best practices, as well as technology and design constraints on the web
- Familiarity with latest usability testing tools/technology
- Familiarity with various techniques and best practices for qualitative and quantitative analysis
- Strong business writing skills (e.g., persuasive writing, analytical documentation and reports)
- Understanding of HTML, Javascript, CSS, XML/XSL, and other web technologies
- Organized, able to act independently, and able to switch rapidly between different projects
- Ability to work well in cross-functional teams
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science, Information Design or related field
