Foraker Design is a growing website design, development, and usability consulting firm. We work with a wide range of exciting clients, from local businesses to large universities, national nonprofits and corporations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and conduct usability analyses on client web sites and web applications –as well as directing ongoing internal usability research
- Communicate verbally and in writing with clients and Foraker team members about how the results of usability analyses can be put to good use
- Distill Foraker and third party research findings into well-written and concise company best practices for user centered design
- Advocate for the users by bringing your depth of experience and knowledge to bear on all of Foraker's work
- Direct Foraker's usability educational/instructional programs
- Be a valuable participant in a diverse slate of discussions on usability, aesthetics, project budgeting and time lines, and business issues.
Required skills
- Experience managing a team of usability, interface, and design professionals to create beauty and clarity for the web
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Unbelievably terrific teamwork and collaboration skills
- Experience developing and conducting usability testing sessions, evaluating data from these studies, and writing up results so they are a pleasure to read
- Experience with developing/writing personas and scenarios that positively influence the development process
- Excellent knowledge of information architecture best practices and evaluation techniques
- Experience with the wider spectrum of “standard” usability evaluation: interviews, card-sorting, expert review, task analysis, focus groups, prototyping, etc.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and standard web technologies
- Minimum of a B.S. in Cognitive Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, Information or other related field
Preferred skills
- Knowledge of Section 508 compliance, and other accessibility standards
- Masters Degree or higher in Cognitive Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, Information or other related field
- Experience teaching classes in usability and user centered design techniques
Details
This is a full-time position at our offices in Boulder, Colorado. You must be able to legally work in the United States (sorry, but we are not able to sponsor work visas).
You must enjoy usability research, user centered design, and working with smart, motivated people to produce web sites and applications of the highest quality. Naturally, you'll need to be an excellent writer, a convincing champion of the people who use our products, and a voracious consumer of new ideas and knowledge.
You'll also have to leave your ego at the door, take the time to get it right for the client in a fast-paced environment, and be willing to welcome new team members to a growing web design firm.
